I'm sorry, but GMobileSync does not have this capability to synchronize the contacts. Maybe you can try the Google Sync services or other contact synchronization programs to fulfill your requirement.

I have setup GMobileSync and it seems to work fine between my desktop having Outlook 2007 and Windows Mobile 6.1 via Google Calendar, which means, I can add / modify / delete an event on either my mobile, Google calendar, Outlook calendar and all three components synchronize.

I have however noticed that only calendar entries are synchronized. Is there a way to synchronize emails and more importantly contacts between Outlook, Google and Windows Mobile 6.

ROFL, did not make the connection :)

After additional testing, I found a couple more points:

The problem appears when the short date format is "ilegal". On the build I am using it was "dd MMM yy" (I suspect to make it look pretty on the Titanium menu). When you open the dropdownlist in Regional Settings the only "legal" separators are "-","/" and "." and you can choose any "legal" format to make GMobileSync work. Probably the "ilegal" short date format has been writen directly to the registry when initialising the OS. I have not tested rewriting this value back to the registry to see if GMobileSynccontinues working.

As mentioned in your original thread the solution should be in the code, as short and long dates appearance is only formatting and the code should not depend on this for parsing XML content (than again the last time I touched some code computers required freight trains to be mobile)

Actually, the thread you found on Google Groups was posted by me, but I didn't think of such a good workaround :)

I just installed 1.3.7 and 1.3.8b on wm 6.5 (from xda-developers) and was experiencing "Parsing Failed" errors.

I found a workaround in this Google Discussion. To cut a long story short if you are experiencing "Parsing failed" and "IndexOutOfRangeException" you should change your short date format in Regional Settings to yy-mm-dd.

As explained in the thread once this has been done and the sync has run, you can revert to whatever format you prefer, synchronisation will continue working.

My phone is an HTC S730, and I initially received the same error message as you describe (Native Method Call Failed). Then I upgraded to version 1.3.7.x, used the "bypass network test" option, an now it works just fine.

Maybe the same will work for you?

My Hardware is a PDA FSC LooxN500, with the system WinMobile 5 / PC 2,4ghz 4gbRam WinXpSP3 - GoogleChrome - Calendar with WeatherPlugIn

- while sync from gcal to pda the one day event will shown at PDA / all day event not

- while sync from PDA to gcal both, oneday and allday events, will not shown in gcal (not ok), but deleted events on pda will also delet in gcal, thats ok.

- the 4day weather in gcal will shown as allday event at PDA also in todayscreen, thats also ok. But the warning for weather 15min befor daychanging is not ok

- no errormessage while sync - gMobileSync says synchronisazion complete

GMobileSync should be able to syn all day events, could you please provide more information on you problem? Which system do you use on your phone? Is it an recurring all day events? Does this problem happen when sycn from GCal to phone or from phone to GCal? Is there any error messages shown when doing the sync process? Thanks.

I have just received a report from user that GMobileSync has ruined all his calendar and messed up his life. I feel really sorry for this issue and thank him to let me know that GMobileSync got such serious issue.

In my personal feelings, GMobileSync is OK for general usage but may have some risks on very complicated events on Google Calendar. Because I have not performed strict testing on complicated scenarios.

If it is the first time you use GMobileSync, I suggest you backup your Pocket Outlook and Google Calendar data before proceed.

If you have found any issue, please feel free to report it to me and I will try to fix the issue as soon as possible.

To make a excellent software is difficult, I'd like to co-work with all of you to make GMobileSync better.

Hi defaria,

The first error of "No network connection was detected." means GMobileSync found your Internet connection is not correctly configured, before you have corrected this problem, the sync process will not run correctly.

So, would you please first make sure your Internet connection on the phone is correct? If your connection need proxy servers, please set corresponding proxy server information in the GMobileSync settings.

I get a similar error message but before I do it says "No network connection was detected. Internet access is required. Would you like to try anyway?". If I try I get the error "Execution of request failed: ...". I'm on Windows Mobile 6.1.

I'd strongly suggest that you move toward being a general CalDAV sync tool for Windows Mobile. I can give pointers (and example Java code) for querying a server for VTODO items, which is almost the same as VEVENT (the ones you currently sync on).

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CalDAV and http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4791 for more details. It's a horrid XML over WebDAV protocol, but it works and most importantly, is being adopted by the community.

Thank you for your suggestion.

GMobileSync does not use CalDAV, instead, it use Google Data API SDK for synchronization operations.

Google Sync is great for Calendar sync, it's reliable and fast, which should be enough for daily use. However, GMoibleSync still has its value for its multiple calendar support and maybe other new features we have not think of.

I know little about CalDAV, so I need some time for a research of the topic, if it is better thank Google Data API SDK, I think it's possible that in the fureture we can use it or even make GMoibleSync a gerneal purpose sync tool.

I've just spotted that Google now officially support calendar/contact syncing over ActiveSync http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299

That probably deprecates gmobilesync as a Google Calendar sync tool... but if this project becomes a more general CalDAV syncing tool, it is ridiculously more useful.

Dear all,

This looks like a very useful project! Microsoft has chosen not to support the open standard CalDAV (to their own disadvantage) and you have all stepped up to the challenge of adding support to Windows Mobile (WM) devices.

I assume that gmobilesync works by synchronising the WM Calendar events with Google Calendar's over CalDAV. This allows the events to be seen by WM's Calendar application.

A problem with Google Calendar is that it does not support VTODO items, which would be called "Tasks" in WM. I am a big user of VTODO items in iCal and would be very very happy to have up-to-date access to my VTODO list on the move.

Are there any future plans to:-

a) support other CalDAV servers? (e.g. free accounts available on hub.chandlerproject.org)

b) support for VTODO items (as WM Tasks)? (not supported by Google Calendar)

I have experience accessing CalDAV servers for VTODO items in Java, and would certainly be able to give pointers to you if you'd like to add this support. I'd offer to code it up myself, but I have no C#/.NET experience and I'm on Apple OS X (so no SDK for WM). At any rate, they are almost the same as VEVENT.

If you intend to set up your own local CalDAV server, I'd strongly recommend DAViCAL (rscds.sourceforge.net) over the Cosmo server (chandlerproject.org/Developers/DownloadChandlerServer) as Cosmo is quite a pain to install, and very buggy. If you're on Apple, then the obvious CalDAV server choice should be Darwin CalendarServer (calendarserver.org). Unfortunately, CalDAV servers are not yet as easy to install and maintain as they should be.
